WH Staffer Moonlights as MAGA Influencer Amplifying Racist Sh*t

Every Friday, The Watchdog Report releases THE LIST, an ongoing literal list enumerating the members of the Trump Administration who need to be the subject of a Congressional investigation when Democrats retake control of Congress, and with it, the power of the congressional gavel (and subpoena pen). THE LIST includes Ed Martin, Ballard Partners, and US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, Kash Patel. The latest addition to THE LIST is White House Staffer Garrett Wade, who uses the alias “Johnny MAGA” to amplify right-wing propaganda and promote racist content like the video depicting the Obamas as apes.

5. Garrett Wade: WIRED revealed that the popular right-wing social media influencer “Johnny MAGA” is actually White House aide Garrett Wade. "Since Trump took office last year, the Johnny MAGA account has supported administration priorities like immigration enforcement, and allies like Turning Point USA. After Trump posted a racist AI-generated video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes earlier this month, the Johnny MAGA account boosted the White House’s claim that the president didn’t watch the entire video, posting, ‘the most obvious tell that Trump's Truth Social post wasn’t intentional is that he would’ve posted the entire thing if he had seen it. It’s a masterpiece.’” The failure of the WH to disclose the connection between a member of the official WH staff and this social media activity raises a number of questions that Democrats on the House Oversight Committee should investigate: 1.) Was anyone at the WH aware of Mr. Wade’s activities? 2.) Was running this account a part of Mr. Wade’s official responsibilities? 3.) If not, did Mr. Wade conduct any of this extracurricular political activity using official government resources, such as a government phone or government WiFi? 4.) Did anyone at the WH direct Mr. Wade to post or amplify content? 5.) Has Mr. Wade, in any way, shape, or form, profited from moonlighting as a social media influencer, and if so, has he reported said benefits on his financial disclosure forms as he would be required to do so under federal law? You get where I’m going here, Democrats? Listen, you can take big swings at the Trump family and Cabinet-level officials, but you also need to go after the low-hanging fruit. You need to put the lower-level grunts on notice. The one’s who can’t afford outside counsel. Who their superiors will throw overboard at the first sign of trouble. Who will flip on those above them to save themselves. That’s why Garrett Wade is the newest addition to THE LIST.
