Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, and local Democratic Florida Members of Congress will be holding a field hearing as part of the Epstein investigation in Palm Beach, Florida on May 12, 2026. The field hearing will include testimony from survivors and important witnesses in the investigation. At the conclusion of the hearing, Members will hold a press conference.
Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, wrote to Chairman James Comer after Oversight Republicans finally announced that Pam Bondi would testify in a transcribed interview before the Oversight Committee, just minutes after Oversight Democrats took action to hold Bondi in contempt. The letter raises concerns to Comer that Bondi’s testimony must be filmed and made available to the American people in the interest of transparency, that Oversight Republicans must enforce the Committee’s subpoena if Bondi refuses to fully cooperate, and raises concerns about the participation of Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon as Bondi’s attorney. In March, the Oversight Committee secured a bipartisan subpoena forcing Bondi to sit for a deposition, which she skipped on April 14, 2026.
Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, wrote to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin demanding answers on why fired former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is still living in a taxpayer-funded United States Coast Guard residence nearly two months after President Trump fired her.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote to the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) John Squires demanding information regarding the USPTO’s apparent willingness to violate federal law by shielding the ownership and financial structure of President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, after failing to answer even the most basic questions during a recent congressional hearing.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Constitution and Limited Government, launched an inquiry into the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) politically motivated prosecution of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a preeminent civil rights organization with a decades-long record of investigating and combating white supremacist and extremist violence.
